Melissa Mehrwin's specialty areas include individual, family, and couples therapy with age range of 5 years and older.
Treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavior Therapy with influence of mindfulness concepts and sensory grounding skills to manage somatic symptoms and establish a more stabilized central nervous system response. Melissa promotes positive parenting approaches using aspects from Love and Logic and Parent Management strategies to improve family relationships and parenting support role for families with children from toddlers to young adults.
Melissa received her master’s degree in Professional Counseling in 2007 with internship experience in a homeless shelter and community clinic at her university. She obtained her License in Professional Counseling (LPC) in 2008 and worked the first part of her career in Family Preservation as an in-home therapist working with at risk families. Melissa obtained her license in clinical professional counseling (LCPC) in November 2012. Melissa has served at Bert Nash CMHC since October 2015 in Child and Family Department and currently provides telehealth services through that agency as a private contractor. Melissa is also licensed as a clinical professional therapist supervisor providing supervision for LPC's working towards their LCPC.
Melissa has been married over 25 years with two young adult children.
She accepts fee for service of $125 per hourly sessions and those who have insurance: Insurances accepted include KanCare United Health Care; KanCare Aetna; KanCare Sunflower; Ambetter; United Health Care; Cigna; Aetna; and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
In Person services are provided in downtown Gardner, Kansas by appointment. Telehealth services are available by request and per insurance authorization.
